Head of Claims Companies jailed
for Insurance Fraud- Solicitors fined
The Head of a number of Claims Handling Companies has been jailed at Nottingham Crown Court for six months as a result of his role in facilitating fraudulent Personal Injury Insurance Claims.
The Director of ACA Claims Limited, ACA Accident Claims Assistant Limited, Medicals Elite Limited and Easygo Hire Limited was found guilty of falsifying signatures relating to a Personal Injuries Claim and it was also found that a Solicitor at Asons had behaved in an “improper, unreasonable and negligent” manner by not verifying the signatures on the document supplied by Haroon Karim the Head of the Claims Management Companies.
It was also found that Asons of whom Karim was an important client had backdated correspondence to conceal non-compliance with Court time tables. The Court determined that Karim had forged the signature of the Claimant on various documents including the Claim Form lodged at the commencement of Proceedings, without the knowledge of the Claimant. Asons, the Solicitors were ordered to pay costs of approximately €50,000 to LV General Insurance who had initiated the prosecution.
